How to Transfer Your domain and Find your EPP Code Print

  • 0

Transferring your domain to Secure Foundations is simple. The main thing you will need is an EPP code (sometimes called an authorization code or auth code). Think of it as a one time password that proves you own the domain and gives us permission to move it over.

🔐 Where to Find Your EPP Code

Your EPP code lives in your account at your current domain registrar (the company where you originally registered your domain). Here is how to get it:

  1. Log in to your account at your current registrar
  2. Navigate to your domain settings or management page
  3. Look for a section called "Authorization Code," "EPP Code," "Transfer Code," or "Auth Code"
  4. Copy the code exactly as shown

🧭 Quick Links for Popular Registrars

GoDaddy My Products → Domain → Domain Settings → Transfer → Get Authorization Code
Namecheap Domain List → Manage → Sharing & Transfer → Auth Code
Google Domains My Domains → Manage → Registration Settings → Get Auth Code
Network Solutions My Domain Names → Edit DNS → Get Auth Code

⚙️ Before You Start

Make sure these three things are in order before initiating your transfer:

1. Domain is unlocked
Most registrars lock domains by default. You will need to turn off the domain lock (sometimes called "registrar lock" or "transfer lock") before we can transfer it.

2. Domain is older than 60 days
ICANN rules prevent domain transfers within 60 days of registration or a previous transfer.

3. Contact email is current
You may receive a confirmation email during the transfer process, so make sure the email address on your domain record is one you can access.

⏲️ How Long Does It Take?

Domain transfers typically complete within 5 to 7 business days. During the transfer, your website and email will continue to work normally. Once the transfer is complete, we will automatically connect your domain to your hosting and install a free SSL certificate.
